61 Hiding
The curse is also after Anna’s unborn child to continue its survival through the generations. Anna stands before the girl who is hiding behind a table in the cellar. She wields the axe to take her out. The girl’s eyes widen and she wets herself as she shakes in fear. Urine runs over the floorboards in a puddle. Anna momentarily softens. The little girl pleads for her life with her wide eyes. Memories of joyful times flash across Anna’s mind: playing in the snow; singing and dancing. She cannot kill a child in this brutal way. Anna faints to the floor. The girl picks up the axe.
