106 Bed Room

“Andrew Boroville’s the man I told you about. He left me the house. But I don’t know him. He died thirty years before. There was a quote from the Bible,” she informs him.

“What quote?”

“Take me there,” she whispers, using her wide eyes persuasively. They both hold each other’s gaze. She is unwavering. He relents.

David takes her to the room where he found the locket.

“Please leave me,” she says.

“No. You see there’s nothing here, let’s go.”

“Please…”

“No. We stay together, it’s not safe. It’s not safe! The house wants to divide us.”

“You think you’re rational, yet you talk like the house is alive! My sister’s dead. I know it. But I saw her here. I can’t do otherwise. So leave me please. Let me try.

“I’ll wait there.” He nods his head to indicate that he will be nearby, just outside of the room. Not far away. He goes out and closes the door. Sophia looks around the room. There is a decayed body on a bed.
