“If you like, this could be your room.” Iris gets some fresh bedding from a chest of drawers and hands it over to Sophia. “You’ll see, we’re happy here. We’ll have dinner soon. See you then.”

The three of them sit at the dinner table.

Sophia eats her soup quickly, making rapid scoops, and lots of slurping noises. Iris seems mildly appalled at Sophia’s table-manners while Lisa is looking on with amusement. Sophia does not even notice their reactions, at first. And then she looks up and laughs at her sister’s expression. Lisa is fascinated by Sophia devouring the soup and she stares at her. Iris gives the young girl a gentle nudge to encourage her to get on with her own food.
