The narrow tunnel begins to open out, allowing them to stand up, and run for their lives. But they meet a very strong-looking, thick, wooden door at the end of the tunnel. It doesn’t look penetrable. They are both almost crazy with fear when they encounter this immovable obstruction. In their exasperation they pound, and pound, at the big solid door until both their hands are bleeding profusely.
Meanwhile the Jangoweed are slithering along the tunnel in pursuit of them. They scream, they shout in anger, and they punch the door with their bare hands. The Jangoweed are just fifty yards away. Sophia and David's bloodied hand-prints are smeared all over the entire door as they push and try to weaken it. In their fury, and fiery frustration, they have turned the door red with their own blood.
“The Red Door,” Sophia says, in awe. At these words, the door opens for them.
